1. Limit your time at the computer if you have trouble focusing. Once you start surfing the internet for more than what you are really looking for, then you have been on long enough. While you are working, you will need to research but then get back to work. If you find yourself checking your emails, looking up stock prices, or looking for the long-term weather report, then just stop working and take a break. That might be a sign that you have been working long enough for now.

2. Have a plan before you sit down at the computer and stick to it. For example, you might plan one hour of writing. Then 15 minutes of checking and responding to emails. This could be followed by another 30 minutes of writing, then a one hour break.

3. Have a goal for the day. Write down what you want to achieve in the time that you have. Maybe you want to compose and submit five articles, or maybe you want to add some links to your website. What it actually is, doesn't matter as much. What is important is that you know what you want to accomplish.
